Ivan Demidov Player Profile and Biography

Ivan Demidov is a professional poker player from Moscow, Russia. Ivan finished in second place in the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event. He was a member of the now famous 'November Nine' who made it to the Final Table of the 2008 WSOP Championship Event. Demidov began playing poker in 2006 and his first tournament cash was in a $200 Buy-in Pot Limit Omaha event at the Korona Russian Poker Championship in October of 2006.

Ivan made his first cash in a WSOP event in the 2008 World Series of Poker. He participated in Event #44 which was a $1,000 Buy-in No Limit Holdem tournament with unlimited rebuys. Demidov finished in 11th place in this event and received $39,854.

Ivan also played in the 2008 WSOP Europe Main Event in London, England. The Final Table at the 2008 WSOP Europe Main Event included top pros including Daniel Negreanu, John Juanda and Scott Fischman. Demidov finished in 3rd place and received a total of 334,850 Euros.

Ivan Demidov became the first player in history to finish at the final table in both the WSOP Europe Main Event as well as the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas. Demidov was inspired to play poker after the recent success of fellow Russian Alex Kravchenko. He is a former semi-pro StarCraft player and graduated from Moscow State University in 2004 with a degree in Math.
